We have learned with great sadness of the passing away of Lt. Gen. Remco Seijn, former Treasurer General of the WVF, on 27 September 2015
Lieutenant General Remco Seijn was born on 30 September 1948 in Dordrecht, The Netherlands. He began a rich and varied military career in 1968, as a cadet at the Royal Military Academy in Breda, before he was posted to Germany as a Platoon Commander in 1972. Lt. Gen. Seijn went through various ranks with the Royal Netherlands Army, prior to his involvement with NATO. In 2002 he became Lieutenant General as Chief of Staff of Regional Headquarters Allied Forces North Europe in Brunssum, a position he held up to his retirement in 2006.
Lt. Gen. Seijn was an active and valued member of the Veterans Community in the Netherlands and internationally. He was chairman of the ’45 Liberation Foundation from 2006-2014, Chairman of the Netherlands Association of Military War Victims (BNMO) from 2010-2014 and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the PTSD Clinic for Uniformed Service Members from 2014.
He was elected Treasurer General of the World Veterans Federation at the 27th General Assembly in 2012 and served in this position until 2015.
Lt. Gen. Seijn will be remembered for his devotion to the veteran cause both in the Netherlands and abroad and for his support of and commitment to the WVF. He will be greatly missed as a colleague and a friend. Our thoughts and sympathy are with his family at this difficult time.
